College of Teacher Education Golaghat

On 12th August 1990, a public meeting was held in Dandadhar Baruah Girls’ High School to discuss the establishment of a B.Ed. College in Golaghat. The meeting unanimously resolved to start the B.Ed. College and a steering Committee was formed in the same meeting with Late Ponaram Neog as the president and Mr. Kosheswar Khanikar as the Secretary in order to take necessary steps to execute the resolution. The steering committee built a fund collecting public donation. Then the college obtained permission from Dibrugarh University for starting the class. Dandadhar Baruah Girls’ High School authority allowed to hold the B.Ed. Classes in the school building in the evening hours from July, 1991. Although College of Teacher Education, Golaghat was established in 1990 with pioneering and untiring efforts of some conscious people, it was formally inaugurated by Sri Mridupawan Goswami, then Principal of P.G.T.C., Jorhat on 8th August, 1991.
